behind the walls

This poem is about attachment patterns, but I didn't know that term at the time I wrote this. The garden represents my inner, emotional world.

little woman, big girl.

the garden i grow is a home you’ll never see; a world you’ll never know.

I worked tirelessly, living only off of the hope that you would see it and smile.

I dream of it the day our hands touch again. I’ll show you all the fruit I grew out of my tears and you’ll pick me up and we’ll run across the world leaving my garden to rot.

we’ll come back you’ll drop me off at the gate and never return. I’ll plant my seeds again

one day I’ll lock the gate, close the doors, turn off the lights.

for now I choose to feel you, even if it hurts.
